Tamiya Panel Line enamel paints are ideal for highlighting panel lines and other details to give your model a more realistic depth. The paint has been pre-diluted into the ideal viscosity and can be easily applied into crevasses such as panel lines with the brush on the bottle cap. Once dried, any excess may be cleaned up by using enamel thinner. (Bottle contains 40ml)

Examples of use:
Black or Dark Gray are general-purpose colors and can be used for any type of model.  Note that these darker colors will create a deep contrast against lighter color plastic and may not be suitable for every aesthetic.

Note:
Plastic parts may become brittle when using Tamiya Panel Line accent colors. Avoid using on movable parts and take care when applying to load-bearing areas. Apply over base coat of lacquer or acrylic paint. Accent Color paints may damage underlying base coat. Test before applying it onto the model. Take care when applying on flat base coat colors as Accent Color paints may permeate more readily.

Questions

Question
Is this safe to use on bare plastic?
Answer
Yes, as long as it is PS plastic and not ABS plastic. It's advised to not do this on completed models, panel line them either on the runner, or after you clipped them out. Do not assemble until after the panel lining has dried and has been cleaned according to your preference.

Question
What can I do to prevent cracks from forming on my model when using this?
Answer
Do not let it pool and don't use it on assembled parts. Best to panel line before assembly. Otherwise, add a gloss coat to help prevent cracks.

Question
Can I use this on ABS? For example, the Flame Toys TF kits.
Answer
Probably not the safest for bare ABS (or any other plastic). Used sparingly, it may be okay. Best is to coat the pieces in a clear first before using this.

Question
How fast does this take to dry?
Answer
Question
What type of top coat product should I buy to go with this product, and should I apply it before I use this panel-liner or afterwards?
Answer
A lacquer (and it must be lacquer/solvent-based), gloss topcoat before you begin panel lining will help with the capillary action and protect the plastic from cracking if you’ve already assembled the kit or just want to be extra cautious. Any sort of topcoat - water- or solvent-based; any finish - will work once it’s dried.

Fantastic

Super easy to not only apply, but also clean up. Color is consistent (marker/pens may fade, or smudge), and easily enhanced by adding more after drying to help those lines POP! Also it's incredibly satisfying to dab, and watch the fluid run along on it's own doing the work for you. If you are debating, or have only used markers/pens; get it. You will wonder why it took you so long to try.
